The first recorded instance of window tinting as we know it started in America. This was around the time of World War II. They are also known to have a short lifespan. The next generation window films that were made in the early 90’s was now constructed from metal integrated with dye. This so-called “hybrid” film now contains dye and metallic particles that reflect the sun’ rays effectively. One of the cons? Since these metalized films contain a good amount of metal, they interfered with a lot of electronic gadgets such as radios and GPS equipment.

The New Breed of Window Films

After a lot of trial and error in the window tinting industry, the newest of window films are now better than ever. Made from ceramic films, they now boast a longevity that can last a lifetime if properly installed/applied. The new ceramic window films also reject heat and UV ray better. It also does not interfere with electronic items. Innovation does not end. A lot of companies are now striving to create better window films to benefit car owners. Some, even changing colors depending on how sunny it is. There are also new window films that can be applied easily by anyone at home. Perfect for those DIY people.
